AIN Development Dialogue 2026 — Towards an Inclusive and Prosperous Nepal
4 June 2026 | Hotel Himalaya, Lalitpur, Nepal

1. Event Description
The Association of International NGOs in Nepal (AIN) organised a Development Dialogue titled Towards an Inclusive and Prosperous Nepal on 4 June 2026 at Hotel Himalaya, Lalitpur, marking the 30th anniversary of AIN's contribution to Nepal's development sector. The event convened over 100 member organisations
alongside representatives from the Government of Nepal, civil society organisations (CSOs), development partners, academia, media, and the private sector.

The dialogue focused on Nepal's evolving development landscape — particularly climate resilience, sustainability, renewable energy transition, and inclusive economic growth — and reflected on Nepal's commitment to SDG 7 (affordable, reliable, sustainable modern energy for all), the Long-term Strategy for Net-zero Emissions (LTS), and NDC 3.0. The programme ran from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, encompassing formal inaugural sessions, thematic parallel discussions, an exhibition, and networking engagements.

2. Key Highlights

  • Participation of more than 100 AIN member organisations and high-level stakeholders from multiple sectors.
  • Address by Hon. Shishir Khanal, Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside senior government officials and development leaders on Nepal's development transition and partnership priorities.
  • Parallel thematic discussions on climate change, sustainability, renewable energy, health systems, governance, education, and livelihood development.
  • Exhibition stalls showcasing innovative technologies and development interventions.
  • Enriched multi-stakeholder interaction among government, CSOs, development partners, academia, media, and the private sector.

3. RECoN & Renewable World — Joint Stall Activities
RECoN and Renewable World jointly operated an exhibition stall serving as a vibrant hub for clean energy promotion and stakeholder engagement. Branded under the theme "Clean Energy: Learn it & Live it !!", the stall reflected the shared mission of both organisations to make clean energy accessible and understandable to diverse communities.

Joint activities at the stall included:

  • Interactive visitor engagement — team members from RECoN and Renewable World guided visitors through clean energy concepts, use cases, and available products, fostering awareness and interest.
  • Technology display — demonstration of solar water heaters, solar water pumps, and electric cooking stoves in coordination with Ultragroup, drawing considerable interest from diverse visitors.
  • Live solar pump demonstration — a functioning solar water pump illustrated real-world applications of solar energy for rural and peri-urban communities, generating significant curiosity.
  • Promotional material distribution — flyers, brochures, and organisational materials were shared with government representatives, CSO members, academics, media personnel, and private sector actors.
  • Collaboration discussions — exploratory conversations on future joint working group opportunities related to renewable energy access and sustainability were initiated with multiple key stakeholders.

4. RECoN Delegation
RECoN was represented at the event by the following delegates:

5. Recommendations
The event was highly successful and well aligned with RECoN's vision of bridging the private sector, public sector, donors, development partners, and financial institutions to expand community access to reliable and affordable energy solutions. The partnership model with Renewable World proved particularly effective and is recommended as a template for future engagements:

  • Encourage greater participation from RECoN member organisations to maximise institutional presence and collaborative impact at national-level forums.
  • Deepen and formalise partnerships with other development partners for increased visibility and impact towards clean and sustainable energy efforts.
  • Prioritise strategic use of exhibition and promotional spaces to enhance outreach, stakeholder engagement, and organisational visibility.
  • Sustain active participation in multi-stakeholder dialogues to contribute to policy discussions on sustainable energy and inclusive development in Nepal.
